Week in Review (June 14-18)

The week started out with the McFet Red Liners facing off a former competitive level McFet team, Los Dinosaurs. Scoring was tough for the Liners for most of the game while the Dinos racked up 4 goals. But Coach L shuffled her lines in the third period. Stengy used the opportunity to fire slapshots from the blue line. His last one went through multiple screens and beat the Dino goalie for the only Liner goal.

Two days later, the Heartland Red Liners had a tough matchup against the Blades. They were hoping to continue their winning ways. The first period began with the Blades scoring first but Sam I Am deked his way and beat the Blades’ netminder. The Blades came back to score back to back goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead. The Liners regroup and turned up the attacks against the Blades. ThomThom popped in a loose rebound in the slot to pull the Liners within 1 goal. But Morty would get the tying goal with a wrister just within the post. The game would go into OT but neither would score. Both team earned a point.

The Johnny’s Red Liners had one of their biggest challenges as they faced off against JD Whale with a smaller squad. The Whales jumped ahead in the first period off a breakaway. The Liners would get on the board early in the 2nd off the first of two goals by Kaner Jr. The scoring would continue to go back and forth. The Whales found the back of the net but Kaner Jr. knocked in a breakaway as well. The Whales would get the last goal of the period. The third period period remains scoreless until the final minute. The Liners pulled their goalie with a minute left but the Whales managed to notch an empty net goal. The Liners kept their goalie pulled and Cheesy Seefy popped in the goal into a wide open net with 20 seconds left. Unfortunately, the Liners could not get that tying goal.
