Several Personal Firsts Seen in North Shore Red Liners Loss to the Charros.

The North Shore Red Liners’ game against the Charros was overflowing with anticipation. But it was not their opponent they were focused on. It was a number of

firsts for members of the Red Liners. Before the start of the game,

two players, Yaz and

Matty, were playing their first ever league game. Also, Teddy and Timmy were playing their first North Shore game of the season. Several more firsts would occur during the game.

The first period had Coach Toto juggling the lines of 2 centers, 3 sets of wings, and 3 sets of defensive pairs. As the Red Liners were setting down, the Charros got on the scoreboard quickly. That would carry for 2 more unanswered goal for a 3 goal lead after the first period.

Unfortunately, the scoring would continue for 5 more unanswered goals. But some of the newcomers showed their excitement by their offensive pressure. Yaz had 2 great scoring chances as he found a loose puck in front of the Charros’ netminder. The first and only goal for the Red Liners would begin from a faceoff deep in the Charros’ zone. After gaining control of the puck, one of the opponents in the near corner tried to clear the puck across the ice. Teddy blocked the path and the puck squirted across the slot. The Baron was waiting and one-timed it past the Charros’ goalie. But the Charros would come back for 2 more goals and lead 10-1 after 2 periods.

The third period did show more offensive pressure from the Red Liners. Yaz would have another opportunity to score from a loose puck in front of the Charros’ goalie but couldn’t get his stick on it. Matty would hold his ground while fighting for a puck that caused one of their opponents to fall over his stick. B-hole had a great one-timer that went straight at the chest of the Charros’ goalie. The Charros would add 3 more goals by the end of the game.

With the changing lines and different sets of players for each game, the North Shore Red Liners is in the middle of its growing pains. Offensively, they looked better. Passing between Chris and Alex was better though a bouncing puck did add more difficulty to it. Rob was able to handle double duty as being 1 of 2 centers for the game. Defensively, there are still gaps to be filled. Queen Anne had several great pokechecks while Andy would faithful cover the defensive zone. The Winemaker back-checked aggressively to stop several breakaways. Sobo and Bleech tried to bring some of their defensive chemistry on the Johnny’s Red Liners to this game. Timmy returned to the ice with his typical determination of trying to skate down opponents. Lee was handling the puck and his rebounds better. The North Shore Red Lines await their next opponents, ShutYurFiveHole. Coach Toto has two weeks to decide which of his players will be suiting up for that game.
