Red Liners Flounder in the Eastern Canada Cup Finals and Lose 4-0 to Ottawa.

The Red Liners were high off their stunning come from behind win against a surprisingly tough Toronto Wolfpack. Being down 0-2 after the first period, the boys in red finally responded with 5 unanswered buy cytotec goals to win 5-3. But that game apparently was

more tiring for them than they realized. While resting before their next and last game, the finals, the Red Liners scouted out their potential opponents. Both Montreal and Ottawa had previously played a very close game and this one was no different. Ottawa would eventually win 2-1 and finally show their true colors. Their solid defense and goaltending was paired up with an equally potent offensive threat. The Red Liners would now have a worthy opponent.

But it would be Ottawa that would control the game. They would quickly go up 2-0 in the first period. While the Red Liners had just come back from such a deficit on their previous game, this road to winning the Finals would be much tougher. Overall, the offense sputtered as they could not find the back of the Ottawa net. Passes were not as crisp or accurate. Skaters just looked tired. The defense looked drained as well. Chasing down pucks deep in their zone with an opponent on their heels definitely wore them out. Break out passes to the Red Liners offense were missing their mark. Ottawa would score 2 more goals in the third period to easily seal up the win.

The loss was

no doubt deflating for the team. They came into this tournament with no big expectation of winning but then found themselves as the #1 seed and almost failed to make the Finals. Some lessons will probably be learned from the tournament. They did appreciate having 3 non-CGHA members playing along side them. Playing at the recently renovating Mattamy Athletic Center / Maple Leaf Gardens was a treat.
