After a quick on-ice evaluation skate, the CGHA fielded its first team, Spin, in September 2002 at the Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills, IL. Though the drive was far for many CGHA skaters, they managed to field a solid bench for each game.
Like many new teams, winning was few and far between. In fact, Spin would not win their first official game until the very last regular season game of the season. The record for this season may not indicate a success based upon wins, it was a success as a concept.
