After coming off a tough loss, the Heartland Red Liners faced another tough game because of their opponent and the time slot. A late night Saturday game can sometimes lead to a subpar effort. The guys in red did try their best with the 10 man squad but the Whalers got on the board with 2 goals in the first period. Their speed lead to traffic in front of Rocket’s net. Jezza of London would ping the Red Liners first goal off a breakaway in the second period. Unfortunately, the Whalers would answer that with a goal of their own. The third period showed brief sparks of offensive attacks by the Liners but the Whalers would increase their lead to four goals. But in the closing minutes, Giavi Javi would be award a late goal off a high slapshot that was deflected down by a Whaler defenseman and bounced into the net. The Liners look forward to an upcoming practice to work on their breakouts, controlling the slot, and crashing the net. They hope to start repeating their past season’s winning ways.
