With the start of the Thanksgiving holiday, the CGHA Red Liners hoped to begin the holiday season on the right skate. By the looks of their performance, they accomplished that. After a typical slow start, the Liners slowly built up their goal lead and eventually shutdown the tired Theory in a 7-1 drubbing.
Things began auspiciously with the Theory scoring on a breakaway within the first 35 seconds. Rumors from the press box say the just brought up goalie was nervous for his first start. It would be Bleech’s hooking penalty that sparked the goal scoring. Twank roofed a laser shortie goal into the near corner of the net off Baby’s pass. Toe would score the eventual game winner a mere minute later from Easy’s cross slot pass.
For the rest of the game, the goal scoring came frequent. For the second period, Toe would get his second tally after popping in a loose puck in the deep slot. Jimmy picked up a rebounded puck and through up high into the upper net, just over the Theory netminder’s shoulder. Baby slipped an on-ice backhand shot just inside the far goal post. There would be two more goals for the third period. After Twank’s slapshot rebounded to B-hole in the slot, he popped it over the goalie. A tic-tac-toe play would cap off the scoring with Easy E credited with the score.
With a 7-0-1-1 record, they are tied in points with Uncle Puck at 8-1-0-0 (16 pts). Because of tiebreakers, Uncle Puck holds the top spot. Their only loss was to the Red Liners. The guys in red will continue their march through the schedule with their next game against the always physical FOP Stars South (3-5-0-1).
The CGHA also wants to wish all of their teammates, friends, fans, and family a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
