The 6-1 loss score appears lopsided but the game was much closer than that. For the first period, neither team could find the back of the net. The much higher ranked High Rollers were stymied multiple times and could not create a sustained attack. At the end of the period, the High Rollers were surprised by the outcome. Early in the second period, the Liners struck first on a breakaway by McClain would beat the Rollers goalie with his high backhand shot. But the Rollers quickly came back on a defensive blue line turnover. This seemed to spark their team as they would notch three more quick goals in succession off various turnovers and lucky bounces. The period would end with the Rollers grabbing a fifth goal. The third period was a much more subdued affair. The Rollers did manage another goal while the Liners could not find any rhythm to attack the net. The eleven person bench had resulted in odd line combinations. With the final buzzer, the season for the 95th Red Liners is over. They will regroup for the next season and hope to come out stronger and better.
