In previous matchups, the Polar Vortex was one of the weaker team. The Heartland Red Liners tried to carry their momentum from their previous win into their first matchup of the Polar Vortex for the summer season. Both teams upgraded their lineups from the past season And it showed from the very start. Neither team made headway on the scoreboard in the first period with Liners having more shots on goal than the Vortex. In the second period, both teams broke through.
