The dedicated showed up for the Red Liners versus the Theory in a Saturday evening matchup. Even with a short eleven man bench, the Liners managed to keep the pressure constant and chaotic. With their defense was backstopped by Biggie, they beat the Theory, 5-0.
Both teams spent the initial half of the first period was trying to get forward and defensive lines synchronized. Sobo was placed at winger which allowed him to score the first and game winning goal at the 9 minute mark. He picked up a tape-to-tape pass in the neutral zone and skated wide to fire a slapshot just inside the far post. The Theory almost tied it up in the middle of the second period as a loose puck barely skirted the Liners’ goal line. Queen Anne managed to swat it out just in time. Building off that close call, the Liners attacked hard against the Theory. It would be Nicky whose high slot shot would slip through the traffic in the goal crease and ito the back of the net.
With a two goal lead going into the third period, the Liners have a tendency to play cautiously. Tonight, they did the opposite. Donma Martin lit the scoreboard in the first minute as his wrist shot from the far corner deflected off a skate and into the goal. But fatigue would begin to set in for the Theory. They barely managed any offensive threats. Those threat were essentially only one or two skaters which were easily turned back by Bleech and Jeff. It even allowed the D-man Druck to skate deep into the Theory zone and try to score. B-hole increased the lead after smashing in a loose rebound just inside the near post. Nicky would cap the scoring with a rocket shot to the upper net as he skated in unhindered.
With that win, the Red Liners regain first place in their North C3 division. The Pirates, in second place, do have one game in hand. The next game for the guys and gals in red will be on saturday, June 21 at 9:20pm against the Loose Cannons (2-6-0-0).
