In a game that did not start out normally, no one could even predict what the end result would be. No, you’re wrong. The expected 13 players dropped down to 9 after 4 players were sent off the ice for not wearing shoulder pads. Toe did get the Red Liners on the board first early in the first period. But linecombinations became jumbled as Twank and Sobo served 10 minute game misconducts for equipment violations, leaving the dreaded 11 on the bench. Further confusion ensued on the ice with a several minute stoppage in play it was unclear when penalties were over. The Baron would tie it up on their own power play after MK got called for roughing. They would then take the lead on an even strength goal but the Red Liners would come marching back with goals from Judge Jimmie and Toe.
The second period saw the Liners slow pull ahead of the Baron with goals from B-hole (lobbed the puck just inside the far post), Toe and Twank (wrister inside the near post). The third period had more goals from B-hole (wrister into the five hole from the slot), and Twank (upper net by the near post). It also showcased McMan’s first goal after stealing the puck from a Baron and beating the Baron’s netminder by the far post. No one can recall the fifth ninth goal scorer.
Even with all of the madness with penalties and confusion, the 95th Red Liners were able to get back their game and attack hard against the Barons and score a solid first win. They hope to continue the winning ways at their next game.
