Johnny's Red Liners Silences Screaming Zambonies By Wiping Them Off the Ice in 11-0 Trouncing.

Even with their previous 5-0 shutout, the captains and assistant captains pinpointed several improvements for the Red Liners to work on at their next game which was tonight. As evident by the scoring, they heard the message loud and clear, and delivered. With short shifts, better communication, and better positioning, the scoring began early and often. In the end, eleven goals would be rattled off.

Jimmie began the shooting gallery a few minutes into the first period as his wingers, Toto and Easy E orbited the Zambonies’ net and fired passes to him. The Druck would fire a lighting wrist shot into the upper net for the second tally of the game. Twank would close the period as he found the empty net from passes off Mixy and B-hole. The D created a solid wall that limited the offensive threats by the Zambonies who were playing with a short, nine-player bench.

Toto would get the scoring with a high wrister about 5 minutes into the second period as Easy E find him sneaking into the front of the net. Tyty in the slot would get the first goal of his line after picking up MK’s slow pass from behind the net and fired it into the upper net. B-hole would pop in the rebound off The Druck’s slapshot for the Liners’ sixth goal. Easy E was in the right place at the right time. Mixy took Twank’s pass and fired it across the slot where it deflected off Easy E’s skate and into the empty net. Toto bounced the puck over the Zambonies’ netminder’s pads from a behind the net pass from Easy E. As for the D, Sobo with Pete and Stefanski and Bleech continued to backcheck and forecheck affectively. There were several breakaways but the solid D pairs were able to shut down those attempts and quickly get the pucks up to the charging forwards.

With a running clock in the third period and being up 8-0, the Liners did not let up. Dr. Watson would notch his first goal of the game off a similar play from MK. He tossed the puck from behind the Zambonies’ net to a wait Watson who easily wristed it into the net. Jimmie would tally his second goal as his speedy wingers opened up the Zambonies defense and easily found the empty net. Frustration continued to set in as the short benched opponents began to complain loudly of out-of-position teammates. Bigfield did get more action as the Liners had a penalty kill about half way into the third period (Twank was called for interference). Big Joe and The Druck as well as Sobo and Pete successfully held the Zambonies to weak offensive threats at Bigfield. Dr. Watson further drove this point as Tyty created an odd man rush at the Zambonies and was able to pass the puck from behind the net to a waiting Watson who again wristed it into the empty net. Watson also had another goal but it was called off as the puck was played with a high stick. The Liners did have a power play of their own in the closing seconds but did not manage to score.

The 11-0 trouncing ties for the most lopsided score for the C3 division this season (Rusty Blades beat the Theory, 11-0). The 11 goal difference was the highest in the last 6 seasons (since being at Johnny’s). The previous record was a 13-3 wipeout of Uncle Puck this past spring. Bigfield has also earned three shutouts in his last three attempts (last four CGHA games). With the win, they regain first place in the C3 South Division over the Devils. They next face the Irish Clowns (3-3-2-0) on Tuesday, Nov 12 at 9:10pm (JIH East).
