p>The North Shore Red Liners met up with the Rats for a rematch after the Liners beat them 6-5 for their first win of the season. Seeing the Rats bench was somewhat low on players, the full benched Red Liners tried to keep the puck
moving to gradually tire out the Rats. In the end the contest would go back and forth and end in a 3-3 tie. A 3 round shootout ensued with the Liners being victorious by scoring two goals to the Rats' one goal.
After having another 30 minute warmup on the adjacent studio rink, the team came out fresh and ready for battle against their old rivals, the Rats. But they also fought back strong and kept the game scoreless for much of the first period. The Rats would get the first goal after firing a high slapshot just inside the Liners' blue line and just under the crossbar. But the Liners would come back in the closing minutes. At the right point, Queen Anne picked up a pass along the boards and fired a slapshot at the Rats' net. Teddy was screening their goalie and then deflected the shot into the upper part of the net. With less than one minutes left to play, Sobo also fired a mid-high slapshot from the same spot as Queen Anne with Big Daddy screening the goalie. The shot sneaked its way just beat the Rat netminder and slipped inside the left goal post. Though they started off slow, the Red Liners were in the lead after 1 period.
The second period had more offensive output from the Rats. They would have two breakaways off bouncing neutral zone pucks. With those two scores, several of the lines were shifted to shore up the defense which seemed to work as the Rats would not score for the rest of the game. But the Liners would tie up the game with a goal of their own off a power play. The Winemaker picked up a clearing pass in the far corner of the Rats' defensive zone. He passed it toward the side of the Rats' net. Awaiting Doc picked up the pass, turned around, and slipped it just inside the goal post. Teddy and The Angry Thai would had shots toward the net that went just wide of the posts. The tie remained at the end of the period.
The third period did not have any scoring from either team but both tried their best to break the tie. Each time had several unsuccessful breakaways. In the last 3 minutes of the game, a scrum around the Rats' net r
esulted in a 5 minute major for Big Daddy and a minor buy cheap viagra online next day delivery penalty for 2 of the Rats' players. The Liners tried to take advantage of the 4-3 power play but the Rats' netminder stood on his head to stop the shots. In one frustrating sequence, Teddy's shot rang off two posts. Slapshots by JayJay and Mixy could only find the center of the Rat's netminder. With the score tied 3-3 at the end of the their
period, a shootout ensued.
The Rats went first and Mr. Lee tracked the shooter and easily blocked the shot. Jayjay shot first for the Liners and fired a rocket wristshot through the Rat's goalie's five-hole. Mr. Lee would block the Rats second attempt but the Rats would also stop Bleech's shootout attempt. The Rats' third shooter was able to slip the puck just behind Mr. Lee to get one shootout goal. Teddy took the Liners' final attempt and deked the Rats' goalie and slipped a backhand shot just past the pads.
The Liners came together on all aspects to come from behind and win a tough game against their old rivals. They did not become dejected after losing the lead in the second period. They regrouped and tied it up. Their defense and netminder stepped up in the third period and the shootout to stonewall the Rats. The powerplay produced many opportunities as well as one goal. The team continues to grow and mature but there is still much work to do. Their next game is on Super Bowl Sunday, 9:40pm against ShutUr5Hole.
