The North Shore Red Liners took on Abt with several players skating in their first game of the season. With the lines reshuffled, these Red Liners came at Abt as best as they could. However, they would fall to them in a lopsided affair by 10-1.
CS
J, The Baron, and Matty dressed for their first game of the season. Unfortunately, Matty would
have to be scratched because of equipment problems. This further shuffled the lines before the game had started.
The first period had the new lines trying to get into a rhythm. Abt would climb to a 4 goal lead before the Red Liners closed the period with a goal of their own. Doc pick up a clearing pass around the boards by an Abt defenseman. Seeing Toto and B-hole screening the Abt netminder, Doc fired a wrist shot beween the legs of an Abt forward who deflected the shot. The now bouncing puck popped through the 5 hole of the Abt goalie. The second and third period scoring were all Abt. They did capitalize on their only powerplay of the game. Don Juan and Running Rob did their best to keep up with the speedy Abt
as they played center. Roger Dodger, Rocket, and The Baron had several breakaways but had some trouble getting clear shots at the Abt net because of their suffocating defense. Queen Anne and CSJ had their hands full with trying to block pucks lobbed at cherrypicking Abt players. Bleach and J Kube also did double time trying to stop the numerous breakaways by those opponents in blue. Lock n’ Stock did have 2 breakaway chances but had trouble corralling the bouncing puck. Finally, Mr. Lee had several great point blank saves as well as a diving save to cover the back door of the Red Liners net.
The loss is another heartbreaker for the new Red Liners team at North Shore. The growing pains continue as various line combinations are tried and players get used to speed of the game there. They will take the extended 9 day break between games to regroup and see how they can improve their performance for that next game.
