The #6 seeded Red Liners had a tough mission as they faced off Jones Day Hockey, the #3 seed. Jones Day was known for its rough play (they were the second most penalized team in the entire C3 division at 173 minutes) and above average players (4 of
12 were B2 players, 2 of 12 were C players). The Red Liners tried to start out strong and not fall into another multigoal deficit in the first period. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
The first period was had Jones Day skating deep into the Red Liners’ defensive zone, firing accurate passes to its forwards, and scoring fron the slot and scrambles in front of the net. The boys in red had a hard time with any sustained offensive threat. Passes were bounced off blades or landed on the sticks of Jones Day.
With scrappier play on both sides, the penalties started to become plentiful as did the goals. The Red Liners did get on the board from the combined affect of Ty-man, Toto, and B-hole crashing the Jones net and tipping a loose puck passed the Jones goalie. But Jones Day racked up 2 more goals before the Red Liners could score again. The period would end with a Jones Day notching their 6th goal.
The third period continued with the physical play and more penalties on both sides. generic cialis lowest price Neither side would capitalize on their respective powerplays. Mixy would grab a loose puck and fire it through the screened Jones Day goalie. Red Liners would score 2 more goals while Jones Days netted 3 more.
With a final score of 9-5 was one of Jones Day Hockey’s highest scoring games. It was also one of their highest goals allowed when they’ve won. The Red Liners did better than in the previous matchup when the lost 8-2. It was evident that the CGHA was outmatched in all aspects by a team that probably does not belong in the C3 division.
The CGHA hopes to continuing building with the creation of 2 teams, one being a higher skilled team than the other. All are welcome to tryout for one or
both teams at American Heartland Ice Arena on Wednesday, August 22nd at 7pm.
