For this game against the short benched Theory, it was the fast passing, shot blocking, goal scoring, and pokechecking version. The Red Liners hope to ride this momentum into their two final games and grab a high-seeded playoff spot. no prescription viagra They also welcomed a new player, Evil Timmeh who filled in as one of the right wingers.
Once again, Doc had a less than stellar start with a late-called tripping penalty after 2 minutes. Though the Red Liners caught the Theory off-guard as Sobo picked off a Theory pass and shuttled the puck up to Ty-man who dished it off to ToTo in the slot. Toto would fire it just past the unsuspecting Theory goalie for the first goal of the game. Minutes later, Mixy would feed a speeding Don Juan the puck as he cut across the slot. He was able to one-time a rolling pass into the Theory net. Doc would make up for his previous penalty by one-timing a cross ice pass with a dribble shot through the Theory netminder’s five-hole. But these white-jerseyed opponents who get on the board with a last minute goal.
The second period started out with a scare for the Red Liners as the Theory would score their 2nd goal after a minute. But the boys in red would regroup. Several diving blockages by Dr. Nick, their fearless goaltender, along with those by Stephen the Voice and Little Mikey, would stifle the Theory and allow the Red Liners to fight back. It would be Big Pauley to score the next goal. He caught a pass from Teddy and drove to the Theory net through a swarm of defensemen.
The rolling and clumsy shot on net managed to just passed the Theory goalie and into the net. Toto would grab his second goal during a powerplay off a offensive zone pass from Doc. The most controversial goal would come from Big Pauley. After tic tac toe passes from Teddy and Evil Timmeh, Big Pauly broke unhindered toward the Theory net. As he cut in front of the goalie with the puck, a backcharging defensemen push him into the far post, knocking the goal off its pegs. But the puck did manage to slip under the goalie and into the net. After some discussion, Big Pauley was awarded with the goal. ToTo would complete his hat trick in the second period after a pretty display of passing from Ty-man to Mixy to Toto who easy shot it through the Theory goaltender as their defensemen stood around in a daze.
As the third period began, the running clock (as the Red Liners were head 7-2) would make it harder for the Theory to make a comeback. Later, their third and final goal was a pretty goal into the upper part of the Red Liners’ net from a loose puck in front of the Dr. Nick. Teddy would find the back of the Theory net after connecting with Queen Steph. Mean Green Justin and C “The Rocket” Smith did try to break out into the offense zone but got stymied with a swarm of Theory defensemen. Hanging Schatz and Queen Steph did produce backchecking magic and giving the forwards more chances to score. In the dying seconds, Big Pauly added the final nail to the Theory’s coffinby completing a hattrick with an easy shot past the frustrated Theory goalie.
When trying to analyze what went right for this game and what went wrong, Team Captain Toto liked seeing more short and accurate passes which allowed for better sustained attacks. Assistant Captain Sobo thought the dropping back to cover forechecking defensemen was better. Teddy suggested that the team did a better job of just taking shots of all sorts at the Theory net which lead to unexpected goals. In the past, forwards would try to set up complicated plays that would never have a chance to get started. The Red Liners will meet up with one of their favorite rivals, The Centurions, this Sunday at 10:40pm and hope to get back over the .500 level.
