The CGHA kicked off the 2004-05 pre-season Sunday night at the Nelson Sports Complex, but the SPIN crew couldn’t overcome an early offensive attack from NYR.
The CGHA lost 5-3, falling to 0-1 in the Rolling Meadows fall/winter season. “We never ver quit which was great to see,” said CGHA founder Chuck Jacobson.
NYR built a 2-0 first period lead, which included a power-play goal. NYR in the second period moved its lead to 4-0 with two short-handed goals on the same penalty.
It was 5-0 in the third period before the CGHA got on the board. Pat Mazzone scored, followed by a goal from CGHA newcomer John Economou. Larry Zyks scored the CGHA’s third goal on an assist from John Economou. Goalie John Adams stopped 18 shots.
The CGHA returns to action Oct. 26 at the Nelson Sports Complex against the MisFits 3. Gametime is 10:55 p.m.
