Monday night the Chicago Spin was on cruise control, shutting out arch rival (and undefeated this season) The Storm. Keith Halverson recorded his first shut out in the CGHA, giving Spin a winning record of 5 and 4 for the first time in the short history of the CGHA. Halverson said after the game, “This team is like a snowball, once it gets rolling it’s hard to stop.” Geoff Boehme got the first unassisted goal before any of the fans could get in their seats, scoring in the first 10 seconds. Then a couple minutes later, Boehme scored an unassisted short handed goal making it 2 – 0. Halverson, making the difference again, passed the puck up to Larry Zyks who scored the second short handed goal of the game making what was the final 3 – 0.
During the game with Spin leading 3 to 0, a couple derogatory comments were made towards a couple of the Spin players. With their second loss to the Spin, it’s obvious that frustration must be settling in for the disrespectful Storm. Other mentions: Andy Rogers was flying on his wing last night, helping keep Spin in control. Of course, who could forget the defense? Those guys were the true heroes, sacrificing their bodies and preserving Halverson’s shutout.
