The fall-winter season of 2013-2014 featured more growth for the CGHA. The developmental squad was split into an instructional team where they had dedicated practices and scrimmages and into a recreational level team at the newly formed McFetridge Adult Recreational Hockey League. A few months later, the instructional team joined the newly formed American Heartland Novice Hockey League to offer real game experiences. Finally, the CGHA fielded a team for the second season of the Chicago Outdoor Hockey League. At the close of this period, the CGHA would have its most successful season to date.
