CHICAGO — April 12, 2013 – Yesterday’s partnership announcement between the You Can Play Project (YCP), the NHL and the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) cements hockey as the professional sports leader in the fight to end homophobia. The league and the NHLPA will work with YCP to develop training and counseling on LGBT issues.

The willingness of the league and NHLPA to publicly declare professional hockey as inclusive to the LGBT community is a monumental step forward for acceptance and tolerance to permeate the game on all levels. The Chicago Gay Hockey Association (CGHA) and our members appreciate the new initiatives that will be developed so that all NHL players may feel safe on their team, as we feel safe on our team. The CGHA is anticipating other professional sports leagues to follow suit and to implement similar programs to break down barriers for LGBT athletes.

“Patrick Burke and the You Can Play team really deserve congratulations for their tireless effort to make this change happen,” says President of the CGHA, Andrew Sobotka. “By promoting inclusiveness for LGBT athletes at the highest level of the sport, we hope that the impact will be felt throughout the hockey community.”

“This is a really significant development”, says Anthony Alfano, Vice President of the CGHA. “This could have a very profound impact on not only the discourse surrounding LGBT athletes in professional sports, but also on the lives of many young LGBT athletes. It’s a very exciting time for the LGBT movement and ice hockey. A very warm congratulations to the NHL, NHLPA, and the You Can Play team!”

###

The Chicago Gay Hockey Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization

buy levitra

that strives to provide

generic viagra price

a non-discriminatory environment within the hockey community. Founded in July 2002, the CGHA plays games, hosts events and runs tournaments and welcomes all with a passion for ice hockey—novice or pro, gay or straight, male or female. The CGHA has about 60 players on three teams, each CGHA team plays in a straight league. The CGHA continuously aims to develop further appreciation and support of the game by raising awareness and bringing hockey into people’s lives.

Playing against the Rats always brings a sense of trepidation in the North Shore Red Liners. But knowing they have already between then two previous times, the confidence of the Guys and Gal in red increased at the time of the puck drop. While it took a period for the Liners’ offense to get started, they would eventually carry the offensive momentum to the end of the final horn and win 4-2.

The first period was all Rats and almost was foreboding for the Liners. The Rats scored first off a clearing pass at the Liners’ netminder. The puck would bounce and slip through the goalie’s five-hole. A few minutes later, the Rats would tack on a second goal off a loose rebound.

But the Red Liners regrouped for the start of the second period with their trademark “CGHeyy!” cheer. The Liners first goal would come off a 4-on-4 with Twank and Mr. B crashing the net on a breakaway and Twank firing the puck just over the Rats’ goalie. Minutes later, it would be Mr. B who would crash the net and deking the Rats’ defense and firing a shot just past the Rats’ goalie. With the new found confidence, the Liners continued the offensive pressure with Bleech lasering a wrist shot from the far point that was partially blocked by the Rats’ netminder and dribble into the net. On the opposite end, the Liners’ defense insisted in minimizing shots on the Liners’ netminder by forcing opponents to go wide

viagra online

of the net.

With the Liners now in the lead, the Rats upped their offensive attack. The Liners’ goalie, Mr. Lee, continued his improved play with stopping several attempts inside the near post but blocking them with his leg pad against the post. The Liners would get an insurance goal in the closing minutes as Toto popped in a loose rebound in front of the Rats’ net.

The win provided more confidence for the team that was able to build up confidence against a strong opponent. A further challenge will be playing in another game just two days later against a stronger opponent, the Meatheads. They may need more of good luck charms such as the one in today’s game. Queen Anne taped a small rat stuffed animal (from a prize machine) to the top of her skate. It wasn’t hit throughout the game.

As expect the second and third seeded teams in the C3 South Division in the second round of the playoffs. The game was expected to be a spirited one and it was. However, the victory would go to the second seeded team, the Immortals in a 6-3 win for them.

The first period started out even as both teams tried to establish offensive pressure but it would be the Immortals who was score first with back to back goals within a 2 minute span, shocking the Liner fans in the stands. But Baby would pull the Liners back within one goal in the closing minutes of the first period. Jimmie started the breakout from the Liners goal line and managed to skate to the Immortals’ net and fire a shot. THe rebound was picked up by Toto in the far corner and managed to pull send it behind the Immortal net. Further jockeying let to Jimmie grabbing control and passing the puck into the slot where a waiting Baby fired it passed the unsuspecting netminder.

The second period would see the Red Liners gain the lead and then lose it. Toto notch two goals on his own off similar plays. His first was off a breakaway from a pass from Jimmie’s

online pharmacy no prescription

clearing pass from the defensive zone. Toto slipped it passed the Immortal’s netminder’s five hole. For his second goal, he caught a clearing pass from Mixy and fired the puck just inside the far post. But the Immortals would get two more goals of their own and pulling ahead again, 4-3.

The third period would be all Immortals. The Liners tried to charge deep into the Immortal’s defensive zone but couldn’t sustain any offensive. The Immortals took a two goal lead after scoring a powerplay goal after 2 minutes into the period. The final goal for the Immortals was off an empty net as the Liners tried to score on a 6-4 attack.

With the loss, the Red Liners are again out of the playoffs in the second round. They hope to continue to improve their play and strategies into the spring-summer season. Fans are waiting in anticipation.

As the Fall-Winter 2012-2013 season came to a close, the Red Liners tried to end their re-inaugural season on a high note as they faced off a frequent foe, the Butchers Union C3. Even fans from both teams were duking it out in the stands. With a skeleton crew and minor league substitutes needed because of injuries, the guys and gal in red answered the challenged and beat the Butchers, 7-3.

From the very

cheap viagra canada

start, both teams were charging deep into the defensive zones and throwing pucks at their opponent’s goalie. It would be Castle who would notch the first goal off a blistering wrist shot. But the Meat Men would come back with a late goal of their own to tie the score at the end of the first period.

Castle would continue the scoring engine by getting back to back goals (earning the hat trick) with the help of his wingman, Rusty Mix on great breakaways. The Butchers continued to pound hard on Dr. Nick. Gees and Justin did well with holding back most of the offensive pressure at the far blue line. The Butche would pull it within one goal off a laser shot from the blue line before Ty increased the lead back to two goals after shooting a loose puck in the slot that trickled into the net.

The pesky Butchers tried to kick up their offensive up another gear and was rewarded with a goal in the early minutes of the third period. But Castle would come to the rescue and continue his scoring romp with another goal off an assistant from Queen Steph. Minutes later, wingers, Davy and Pauley, danced the puck around the Butchers’ net while Tyty got open and rebounded a pass into the net. With the game winding down, The Druck settled down into a more comfortable forechecking/backchecking rhythm against the Butchers. Jimmy almost snuck the puck past Littlefield, the Butchers’ goalie, as his rocket shot was initially blocked and plopped jump on the goalie line. Castle was rewarded the icing on the cake with his empty net goal with a second left in the game.

With that game, the Red Liners end this season at at very respectable 15-6-0, earning 30 points. They are just 1 loss from the top two seeds who are tied. Their record is better than any other team in the C3 North Division. Their is an obvious cutoff in the C3 South Division The top 6 teams have 13 or more wins. The bottom for have less than 9. Their first game will be against Ogilvy on March 9 at 1:30pm who they beat 5-4 in their only matchup.

Johnny’s Red Liners:
The guys and gal in red brought their three-game winning streak into this unexpectedly tough matchup against the Blades of Steel. Their opponents scored early and were ahead 2-1 by the end of the first period. Baby would lead the Liners back into the game with two goals of his own in the second period. The teams would be tied 3-3 after 15 cialis more minutes. With momentum on their side, the Liners kept the pressure on the Blades’ backup goalie for the entire third period and extended their lead by 2 more goals. With two games left, the Liners kept the pressure on the currently first-seeded team, the Rats. Their next game (Thurs, Feb 20 at 11pm, JIH West) will likely be a tough against the 13-5 Immortals. With 6 teams within 4 points of each other, the final seeding for the Liners will not be known until their last game on March 3. Also Dr. Lang has again risen to the top of the goalie stats for the C3 division (for majority playing goalies) with his 12 wins from 17 starts and a 3.0 GAA.

North Shore Red Liners:
With their sister team was playing at the Johnny’s Ice House, the North Shore Red Liners were fighting against Charros at the same time. With a full bench, the Liners fought with new line combinations. The offense had trouble penetrating deep into the Charros’ zone. The defense fought valiantly against the withering offensive attacks by their opponents. One of the defensemen, the Lawman, stepped up his
