Q: What are the tournament dates?

A: Thursday June 25th through Sunday June 28th, 2015.

Q: When is the last day to register?

A: Registration will be accepted until the first day of play on June 25th.

Q: Is the tournament co-ed?

A: YES! Men, women, gay, straight and anywhere in between are welcome to play in the Pride Classic.

Q: What are the levels of play?

A: The Recreational division is for players who have some experience with the sport of hockey. It’s for players who would rate themselves 1-3 on the player scale. The Competitive division is for players who have been playing hockey for 10+ years. These players are 3-5 on the player scale.

Q: Can I register as a team or as an individual?

A: Players may register individually or with a team. If you register a team and cannot field at least 15 players and a goalie you will either have players added to your team or your team will be broken up to be added to other teams. Please note that we will NOT be providing team jerseys, but we will be happy to help coordinate so that everyone is in the same color.

Q: Is it better to rent a vehicle or to take public transit?

A: It will be possible to navigate the city by public transit, including getting to the ice rink. A cab from downtown to the ice rink will cost approximately $20 each way.

Q: When will games be played?

A: Games will be played between 5pm-11pm on Thursday and Friday, and between 1pm-9pm on Saturday. While the games are played later at night, the benefit is that nobody has early morning games. Remember that Chicago bar are open until 4am so there will be plenty of time for both fun and hockey.

Q: Will there be social events?

A: Most definitely! We will have social events each night from Wednesday to Saturday, the tournament dinner is Saturday night. The Pride Parade is Sunday morning and we’ll start with a brunch before the parade.

Q: What is included in my registration?

A: For players: 3 game minimum, tournament dinner ticket (food and open bar), t-shirt, goodie bag, equipment storage at the rink. For guests: tournament dinner ticket (food and open bar), t-shirt, and a goodie bag.

Q: What about driving in Chicago?

A: Chicago is laid out in a grid system and very drivable or easily navigated by cabs and public transit. There is a Google Map located here with driving directions from the host hotel to the ice rink. It is a just 6 mile drive with estimates taking between 15 and 20 minutes. This map also has information on public transit and the location of the all of the tournament events, and other cool stuff.

Q: Can I leave my hockey gear at the rink during the tournament?

A: Yes, there will be plenty of space to leave bags for the duration of the weekend. Leave your bag at your own risk. McFetridge Sports Center and the CGHA are not responsible for items left at the rink.
