Heartland Red Liners Remain in Playoff Hunt with 5-0 Win Over Yetis.

Saturday night games are never a high attendance affair. This even occurs for the well stocked Red Liners. But a solid group of 12 skates faced off against the Yeti. Strong play from Ca$ha and Kev at forward, TomTom and Kodi on Defense, and Rocket in net lead to the shutout victory.

Ca$ha would get the Liners out first with his wrister amongst the traffic in front of the Yeti net. In the second period, Kev would notch the first of his 2 goals with a side shot from the corner that rolled up a stick and into the upper net. Ca$ha would increase the goal lead by finding the back door open for an easy wrister. Kev would snipe his second goal with an around the body flicked shot that deflected off Morty. This is now the patented “snepshot”, an across the body hook shot. Ca$ha would cap the goals on a breakaway wrister goal into the upper net in the third period. D were able to keep the Yeti shots to a minimum. Rocket did have one close call in the second period after losing sight of the puck behind his yet but the Yetis were unable to score on the empty net. But he did make other key saves to keep the Yeti scoreless.

With the win, they now sit at 5-9 and remain in 5th place out of 8 and have earned a playoff spot. They are just 1 win away from taking 4th place. Their next game will be Monday, Jan 11th at 10:40pm (American Heartland Ice Arena).
