Heartland Red Liners Clinch Playoff Berth with 6-2 Win Against Goalie-less Jokerit.

Jokerit was the number 1 seed for the entire league coming into this game. The Red Liners knew they had a challenge when facing them in this late Friday night makeup game. However, 11 Red Liner skaters came out to meet 11 Jokerit skaters. There was just one problem. While the Liners had Dr. Nick in net, Jokerit had no one. But the game went one with Jokerit “pulling their goalie” at the very start. So it was a 6-5 of some sort.

Ca$hin would get the scoring started in the first period along with Kev Sniper Snep. Jokerit would spend most of their time defending their empty net. Morty would push the goal lead even more during the second period. Their opponents would get on the board during a scramble in from of Dr. Nick where a wrist shot slipped through. But more goals from Cashin pushed the Liner’s lead. MK would get the only penalty of the game after interfering on a breakout. The third period was more back and forth affair initially with the the clock running because of the 4 goal difference. But a deflected blue line wrister off MK’s stick went into the Liners’ net. But the first forward line regrouped and eventually bumped the lead back to 4 goals which would be final differential.

With that win, the Red Liners have accumulated 17 points and a guaranteed spot in the playoffs. There exact seed will depend upon the outcomes of games involving Polar Vortex and the Whalers. Their final regular game is on Sunday, Aug 9th at 8:40pm.
