Johnny’s Red Liners Appetite Too Much for Buffet Boys in 6-3 Victory.

An early weeknight game had many people walking toward the United Center where Game 3 between the Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues was occurring. But these Red Liners were walking away from the United Center with their gear for their own matchup against an old foe, the Buffet Boys. The scoring for the Liners took some time to get started but came as a gusher straight into the third period and lead to a 6-3 win.

Dr. Watson would start the scoring late in the first period for his first goals of the season. Senor Cabeza’s shot on net rebounded to MK who fired it across the goal line. Watson poked the puck through the Buffet Boys’ goalie’s five hole. He would grab his second goal off laser top shelf wrist shot from Toe’s drop pass. The Buffet Boys could not muster up any significant offensive threats.

The second period scoring began early with the Boys scoring with less than one minute into the period. Soon afterwards, the Liners drew a penalty but could not score on it. They would get another powerplay but again could not capitalize on it. But B-hole would come to the rescue with a last minute goal off a blistering slapshot off the crossbar from Toe’s drop pass.

The action in the net and between the teams heated up in the third period with the Liners scoring two unanswered goals. Baby would score his first goal of the season by popping in the puck inside the post off Twank’s and Mixy’s rebounds. Less than a minute later, Sobo fired a slapshot from the point off Baby’s pass that found the back of the net. Two minutes later, the Boys would pull within 3 goals and stop the running game clock. Multiple penalties drawn by both teams resulted in a 4 on 4 with the Boys scoring after the Liners’ had trouble clearing the puck. The momentum continued with the Boys as they drew another penalty but they could not score on it. Twank sealed the deal off a breakaway and rifled the puck into the Boys net for this game’s last goal.

Though there were some defensive trouble with puck clearing and bad cross ice passes, the offensive threats are coming from all lines, forwards and defensemen. The guys in red look to further grow and build confidence with the linemates in the future. Their next matchup against the Warriors is on Wednesday, April 30 at 11pm.
