Full Benched Liners Scoff at Top Shelf’s Small Stock. Claim Easy 7-3 Victory.

The almost apocalyptic polar vortex descending into Chicago froze the teletype machines transmitting the latest news of the CGHA Red Liners against Top Shelf from the McFetridge Ice Arena. It also prevented one of the Liners’ players on the team bus to make it to the rink as the roads became impassible.

As best as can be told, the game started out slow with each team scoring one goal in the first period. Andy popped in the first goal for the Red Liners. The second period saw an explosion of goals from the Liners notched three more goals to the one more goal by the Shelf. The on-the-ice report thinks at least Dirky and Toe had goals. As the game began to slip away from the Shelf, their physical play seemed to kick up. The third period had two more goals for the Red Liners, a rocket shot from the circle by Twank and a shorthanded deke from Toto after schooling the Shelf with his stickhandling. The Shelf did score another goal but also had some spectacular collisions on top of a few slurs directed at a few of the guys in red.

The Liners took the physical and verbal jabs in stride which was easy to do with the comfortable lead and strong play by their goalie, the Music Man. The next game against the Howitzers is Jan 13th at 10:50pm
