The Red Liners Finish in Fifth Place After Close 4-3 Loss to the Devils.

With playoff spots on the line, the Red Liners had a tough job on front of them with their last matchup of the season. Their opponents, the Devils, were currently in first place and known for their scoring abilities. The Liners came out strong against the smaller Devils bench. The first period was another back-and-forth affair. Neither team was able to score.

But the second period was almost all Devils. They scored 4 times (some off breakaway goals by obvious non-C3 players) to one goal for the Liners. Baby’s shot on goal ricocheted to a waiting Bleech whose slap shot bounced off the goalie’s helmet and bounced into the net. Being down 3 goals, the Liners charged hard for the remaining 15 minutes. With aggressive fore checking and screening the goalie, they notched two more goals. Sobo bounced the puck from they point through the slot traffic to score while Jimmy fired a short wrister that bounced off the goalie and into the net.

They couldn’t tie the game in the closing minute after pulling their goalie. With the loss, they fall to 5th place. They will face the Rats (4th place) on Friday, Aug 16 at 7:10pm.
