Red Liners Croaks Grip Pro Bullfrogs in 6-4 Win

Playing early afternoon games are not one of the CGHA Red Liners’ favorite things. In fact, several players appear hungover from the the previous night’s festivities, presumably the Game 1 win by the Chicago Blackhawks. With a new goalie from their minor farmer team play, the Liners looked rusty early on. But they did not panic and eventually pulled ahead of their rivals, 6-4.

It would be the Frogs who scored first and quickly off a odd man rush at the Liners. Their new netminder, DJ Dylan, rebounded from that goal and played excellent for the rest of the game. The team’s confidence was buoyed by Twank scoring 4 minutes later off a pass from Justin O. The first period would end tied at 1 goal apiece.

The Liners started the second period with a double minor power play. Twank would score his second goal off a breakaway during this man advantage. The Frogs did tie it up once more 4 minutes later. But Twank would recapture the lead with the hattrick as it stuffed the puck just inside the goal post off Stock’s pass. The Liners would carry this scoring momentum into the third period with three more unanswered goals. Judge Jimmie popped in the eventual game winning goal from a rebound off Toto’s shot on net. The roles would be reversed a few minutes later as Toto notched his only goa of the game. B-hole would add another insurance goal a minute later as he crashed the net and stuffed in a loose puck off The Druck’s rebound. The Frogs would score on their last powerplay chance to bring their team within three goals but it was too little too late.

With the win, the Red Liners move up to second place with a 5-2-1 record. The forwards continue to work on their breakouts and passing schemes while the defense tries to improve their shot blocking and puck clearing. While different goalies have been used in the last 3 games, they compliment the play of the Liners very well. The next matchup will be against the Screaming Zambonies, a veteran foe, on Sat, June 8 at 1:50pm Johnny’s East.
