Abt Tries to Close Out the Red Liners Early; Liners Make Them Play to the End in 10-2 Loss.

A sparse North Shore Red Liners bench was augmented by bringing up several players from the minors in this second to last game of the season. Facing a full bench on Abt, Dr. Nick definitely had his work cut out for him in net.

Abt came charging out with all they could muster since the start of the firstperiod. The two defensive lines were overwhelmed by this offensive power. Abt would score 6 goals in the first period while the Liners were unable to muster up any significant offense.

But offensive lines and defensive strategies were adjusted before the second period. The rest of the game would be a closer affair. In the second period, Abt would only get 2 more goals of their own. CSJ was clearing pucks efficiently out of the zone. MK blocked a shot into an empty net by standing behind a sprawled Dr. Nick who just made several great saves. The Liners would match that scoring with a goal of their own off a breakout from Andy and Twank. Teddy with Yaz fought in front of the Abt net but couldn’t get the puck to cross the goal line.

The third period again had Abt scoring two more goals of their own but the Liners also tallied another goal of their own. Dr. Nick along with Timmy and Jayjay got to clamp down on many shots on net in this period.

While the game started out on a down note, the Liners regrouped and came out with more energy and enthusiasm in the second and third period. Though they still lost 10-2, the scoring was a closer 4-2 in those last two periods. They hope to continue to enthusiasm into their last game of the season this Thursday, 10:40pm.
