Red Liners Pump Up the Scoring But Can't Stuff ShutUr5Hole's Hole in 11-4 Loss

The North Shore Red Liners finally met up with the last remaining team in their division, ShutUr5Hole. Their approach to this game was similar to the previous ones except several forwards were put into service on defense. The lineup did have sever

al teammates in non-traditional positions (Toto and Teddy as defensemen while Sobo and Bleech were forwards). This new combination seemed to show some good results.

The opponents got on the scoreboard quickly by scoring 3 unanswered goals. But the Red Liners would get on the board in an unexpected manner. Alex M went on a break away through the neutral zone and into the Hole’s zone. He had to battle his way to the net and barely tipped the puck which bounced past an unsuspecting Hole’s goalie. These boys in green would answer back with one last goal of their own before the first period was over.

The boys and girl in red would come out with a fury at the start of the second period. Within a minute, they would notch 2 goals. After picking up the puck in the Liners’ zone, Toto went on a breakaway and fired the puck just inside the far post. Big Daddy popped the puck just past the Hole’s netminder off a rebound from Sobo’s wrist shot to notch the Redliners’ third goal. The Hole would grab a fifth goal several minutes later. Toto would score the Liner’s next

and last goal off another break away. But the Hole would come back with a vengeance as displayed on the scoreboard. At the final buzzer

of the second period, the Hole would score 4 more goals. One of these goals occurred during a 5-3 penalty kill.

The third period was all 5Hole but they would only score 2 more goals. The Liners did have several good scoring chances from Bleech, Sobo, and The Baron. While this game did have more scoring than in the two previous games, there is still basic defensive strategies that need to be worked on: interfering with opponents in the slot, having wingers against the boards to help clear pucks, and watching out for cherrypickers. The Red Liners next matchup will be the second meeting against the tough playing Rats. Time will tell if the team has learned from their past encounters.
