Thank YOU! + Crew

Hi Everyone,

The Chicago Gay Hockey Association would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for your support. If it were not for all of you, we would have never been able to bring the Stanley Cup and Brent Sopel to Chicago Pride 2010 and have a weekend more successful than our organization could have foreseen. This event was a first for professional sports as well as for the LGBT community, and it was truly an honor to have your support in helping to make this event a reality.

Whether you made a donation, marched in the parade with us, or simply cheered as we rolled by, we send you our most sincere thanks. Please come celebrate the end of an historic Pride weekend, tonight at Crew, see the details below.

The Chicago Gay Hockey Association (CGHA) continues its relationship with Stanley Cup champion Brent Sopel, who won the 2010 Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks and has since been traded to the Atlanta Thrashers.

The CGHA will hold a three-hour fundraiser on Thursday, July 1, with portions of the proceeds being donated to Angels Get Their Wings, which is Sopel’s personal charity.

Sopel and his generic propecia online pharmacy wife, Kelly, rode on the CGHA float in the annual Chicago Gay Pride Parade, held Sunday, June 27, through the streets of Lakeview on Chicago’s north side. The CGHA has been raising funds for Sopel’s chosen charity to thank him for joining them in the parade. In less than a week, the CGHA has raised close to $10,000.

“We’re honored to be associated with Kelly and Brent Sopel, and the Angels Get Their Wings charity,” said CGHA team president Andrew Sobotka. “This fundraiser is just the first of many initiatives that the CGHA will begin to help Sopel and his charity. It’s the least we can do after the enormous, ground-breaking move Sopel made by volunteering to join the CGHA in the Chicago Gay Pride Parade.”
