CGHA Team Defeats Defending League Champs

Spin-offs 6, Morning Wood 2

The Chicago Gay Hockey Association (CGHA) team — Spin-offs — won Saturday night in Rolling Meadows, recording their best win in CGHA history: a 6-2 come-from-behind win over defending league champion Morning Wood.

Spin-offs, trailing 2-0 after the first period, regrouped for six unanswered goals, including two in the second period in a 26-second span — which tied the game — and another two in a 56-second stretch during the third period. Spin-offs finished the three-game seeding round with a 3-0 record.

They open the 11-game regular season Friday, June 11, at 8:50 p.m. at the West Meadows Ice Arena. In two weeks (June 18-21), Spin-offs will head to New York City to participate in the Chelsea Challenge 2004, an annual gay hockey tournament hosted by the NYC Gay Hockey Association.
