The Spin shut out Team Glacier 5-0 Saturday night, improving their record to 6-4. Geoff Boehme and Larry Zyks each scored two goals, and Keith Halverson stopped the few shots that came his way. Halverson praised the defense, anchored by Shane Thompson, and said, “Don¹t worry about whether the goalie gets bored.” Spin have not given up a goal since April 5.
Despite playing nearly the entire first period in the Glacier zone, there was no score until Geoff Boehme fired in his sixth goal of the year late in the period. In the second period, Larry Zyks single-handedly sliced through the Glacier defense and pushed the lead to 2-0. Boehme scored again on a Spin power play, making the score 3-0 at the end of two periods. In the third period, Mark Bachman banged in a rebound from an Andy Rogers shot, and Larry Zyks scored off a feed from Toronto visitor Dan Bain.
